BEYOND LIVE MUSIC / IN DEVELOPMENT
The story is still unfolding.
The Naked Eye is expanding into documentary portraits, interviews and short films. This next chapter follows the lives and influences behind creative work, exploring how cultural memory, movement and belonging shape what artists make — and what their work makes possible.
Beyond the performance
Beyond the stage are the people, histories and lived experiences that give music its meaning. Through artists’ stories and cultural archives, TNE will trace the roots behind the sound: the knowledge passed between generations, the encounters that transform a practice, and the personal worlds that rarely reach the spotlight.
The developing work also turns towards decolonial practices: who holds knowledge, whose histories are preserved, and how creative expression can challenge inherited narratives. Identity and culture emerge here not as fixed categories, but as living negotiations — carried, questioned and remade through everyday experience.
New stories taking shape.
Documentary research and short films are currently in development, opening space for closer encounters with artists, their communities and the worlds behind their work. While these stories take shape, this edition presents The Naked Eye: Live Music — Chapter 01 of an ongoing project.
